This is day 10 in Puerto Vallarta, only 4 days left. I took a few shots around the pool, and that evening Pete and I walked down to the beach to watch the sunset. There was a guy there flying a drone.

You can barely make out the drone, on the horizon directly in front of the guy, and in the last frame in the lower right corner.

It was a pretty nice sunset this evening. It makes one appreciate this planet, and wonder if there is another one just like it in the universe. There must be thousands, but we will never see a one of them, unless we figure out quantum teleportation.
I’ll have to admit, the drone was pretty amazing. They must have quite a tight feedback loop to maintain them as such a stable platform. In frame 2 below, it looked almost like the drone was on a collision course with a local pelican. That would have been an interesting encounter. It’s a good thing I wasn’t at the controls, I might have given chase to the pelican.

When we were in California, we stopped by one of the Fry’s Electronic stores, and we couldn’t believer how many different drones there were on sale there. I think the market must be saturated by now.

Day 11, and we are about to begin our second “gift” for suffering through the timeshare presentation. This one is the Marietas Eco Discovery Tour. It included snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, and whale watching along the way. It was quite a long trip to get to the islands. We spent probably more than an hour, enjoying being on the open water, with a comfortable sea breeze blowing, and the friendly environment of strangers thrown together on a catamaran, with a crew that was doing their best to keep us entertained.

They set out some snacks to munch on during the long ride to the islands. As we left the harbor we saw our resort, the Westin Club Regina beyond the sailboats below. The second frame reminded me of the boat ride through the waterways of Tigre here in Buenos Aires. All the islands had similar appearances, and were just a couple of feet above the normal waterline. When the river up stream is being bombarded with heavy rains, the water level can rise above the level of the protective barrier and flood the islands.

There were some pretty elegant yachts in the marina. I suspect that many of them have been paid for with drug money.
As we approach the Marietas they begin to pass our the snorkeling equipment. Pete decided that he wanted to try kayaking.

Pete spent about an hour paddling around in his kayak. Without rapids it appeared, to my mind, just a little boring. We enjoyed a buffet lunch, and for a treat afterwards, they passed out little coconut candies in the colors of the Mexican National ensign.

And for an added treat, this whale decided to give us a show by breaching about 6 or 7 times before finally diving. I think the captain and crew were as surprised as we were.
Well, I’ve got to stop for now so I can make the desert for tomorrow nights dinner. Life goes on as usual. More to follow later.
