Upon re-entering the harbor after our trip to the Marietas, a huge cruise ship had arrived in our absence, the Ruby Princess. It is my opinion that they are just making cruise ships way too big these days. One wonders where it will end.

We got back to the resort in time to make a rum and coke and walk down to the beach to watch the sunset. The guy with the drone was back. It’s easy to see why we have made it a habit of watching the sunset. Sometimes they can be really spectacular.

That night we went to the Arecife for dinner, and of course began with a martini. I don’t see how anyone can expect to lose weight on a vacation like this. Obviously some things were just not meant to be. ;o) Miņana is good enough for me.
The next night we decided to go for sushi. The walk to get to this restaurant was just a little further down the road, but it was totally worth it. We love hot sake.

The combination we selected was really good. Pete’s favorite is the salmon row. He will pick each little egg up with his chop sticks and savor each one individually. Whenever we get them, I can’t help thinking about my fathers sporting goods store where he had little jars of the salmon roe for sale, and fishermen would buy them and put one in a small gold hook to catch trout. I never thought of eating them. They were fish bate. ;o) Well, that’s all changed now. I love them too.
Our friend Frank gave us a few restaurant suggestions to try while we were here, and we did get to one of them. The name intrigued me, The Red Cabbage. Getting there was a little weird, as it is well off the beaten path. It was smaller than I had expected, and the walls were covered with a jumble of eclectic artworks.

They did make a pretty good martini. Our table was covered with more artwork of sorts.

This guy was obviously a famous general, perhaps Bolivar. And the indian guy must have been some famous aztec worrier.
For my appetizer I ordered quesadillas and a combination Mexican plate for my dinner. I was in Mexican heaven. Even the margaritas were great. Pete ordered the catch of the day, and it was cooked to perfection.

Our dessert was the flan, and it was home made, and excellent . Pete had a glass of Sambuca with a couple of coffee beans in it. We thank you Frank for this suggestion. It was a great way to spend our last night here.
This is our last day in Puerto Vallarta, and looking back, I think it was a pretty nice vacation. At least I feel very relaxed and am looking forward to getting back home. To steal a line from Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, “There’s no place like home”.

We hope you enjoyed this little tale of our travels. Our next trip will be a short one to Michigan to help Paige Macay celebrate her graduation from nursing school. And then in June we leave for South Africa for an 18 day safari, something that has been on our bucket list for a very long time. This should make for an interesting travelogue.
This is what we will be doing when we get to Victoria Falls. ;o) Wish us luck!
