DAY ELEVEN ~ Baltra Island

There was a good surf, and one could definitely ride these waves. But you'd really have to watch the rocks.

This little guy was really cute with the red/orange eye ring. None of the creatures seem to fear us.

Thus ends our stay on Baltra Island. From here we will return to Bartholomew Island, and await our flight.

The airport waiting area is busy, and we say our good-byes, as some are flying directly back to Quito, but we are flying to Guayaquil for a day tour and an overnight in the Oro Verde Hotel.

Adjacent to the waiting lounge are lots of shops, and I see Gary and Elise Jones in search of last minute treasures.

Try as I might, I could not find anything to purchase, mainly because I knew I'd have to carry it home. LOL

Our plane is boarding and we are ready for the next and final phase of this fantastic adventure.
DAY ELEVEN ~ Guayaquil and a tour of the city

I think we were both just a little disappointed in Guayaquil. As you can see from this vista point, it is just a huge sprawling city, and apparently not a whole lot of planning went into laying it out.

It sort of reminded me of looking over the L. A. basin from Pasadena, or perhaps from the top of Mulholland Drive.

But once our guide took us down to the city center, we saw some rather impressive buildings.

I can't name these building, but it faces a rather impressive walking plaza.

I believe this was an important government building, perhaps legislative chambers.

Some of the founding fathers of the Ecuadorean Republic, depicting their struggle for independence.
Closing now to move on to the next chapter.
