Day 6 - Paris

Part 6

We are still walking around the Hermitage, and we happened upon this amazing car.

Can you imagine sitting behind the wheel of this beauty, as you tour France? I sure can. I've always
wanted a fire engine red car. Perhaps in my next life. LOL I believe it is a 1968 Morgan Plus 8

Doesn't it just make you want to break our a fresh can of Turtle Wax and give it a good polishing?

A view of the church at the Hermitage. For being out in the middle the country, it is a most
impressive structure. I suppose a lot of blood and sweat went into the building of it.

France-2012-chptr06-04

Those are certainly massive doors. I wonder what it cost to build it would be in todays dollars.

This is the huge square in front of the church.

I love the sidewalk cafes. We have them in Buenos Aires, and it is very nice to have a coffee and watch the world go by

The inside of the church was huge, and very well lit with natural light

We are standing on the grounds in back of the church, and this is a view of the surrounding countryside. Not bad!

We spent a good deal of time just exploring this beautiful and timeless place. We were in not hurry to leave.

Bruce has been a wonderful host, taking us to see some wonderful sites, fixing dinner for us and making our three days with him most memorable. Pete and I wanted to take him to dinner, so while were at the Hermitage we searched for a nice French restaurant. We had passed a few on our walt through the streets, and Pete wanted to go back to check a few of them out. I was not so inclined to walk back UP the hill, so I found a comfortable place to sit and wait for them to do the deed. They returned without making a decision, so we walked down the hill further. We spotted this great looking restaurant and went in to check the menu and their schedule. We decided this place would be worth giving it a try, so we made a reservation for 7:30 that evening. We went back to Bruce's place to shower, and visit some more before it was time to leave. We arrived at the restaurant and were treated excellently by the staff. We each ordered something different, which always makes it interesting. I must say, this dinner was a very memorable experience.

Whenever Pete and I do a toast with wine, we invariable say "To LIFE", but sometime I modify it and say "To our
PERFECT LIFE", and I honestly believe that. Just look at the friends we have, so loving and steadfast. Nacho and
Mauricio were so gracious during our three days with them. And now here we are with Bruce. How blessed we are
for having the privilege and good fortune of knowing them. And for all our friends in many lands, we are so very
grateful for these friendships. And I'm not forgetting family. We are equally blessed on that score. Life is GOOD!

These were the dishes we chose, and don't ask me to tell you what they were, but I will honestly say that they were the
most superb dishes, each one, and the desserts were to die for. I love French cooking. And the wine we ordered was
something I would definitely walk a mile for, and then some. Needless to say, we had a wonderful evening.

Well, I've reached my 5 MB limit, so it's time to move on to Part 7, where I will show you Bruce's garden. Gardening is something we can't do in our apartment in Buenos Aires, so we can really appreciate that it is not a lost art here in France. Bruce is not only a master craftsman, but he has a green thumb as well.
