Saturday, December 6th, 2008 - Waiting to board the zodiacs.

We stopped at the visitor center to get information on the island. You can see the buildings in the background look very “British”.

A church that was built in 1892. A whale bone monument. Pete & Hennie

A monument to the 253 British soldiers who lost their life in the Falklands / Malvinas conflict in 1982. www.falklands-museum.com for more info.

A different monument for a terrible battle against the Germans in 1914.
The Falkland Museum.

Some maritime artifacts outdoors.
A display of a “general” store in the Falklands in earlier days.

A display of a typical Argentine bunker. Many photos from the Falklands conflict.

A very “British” street!

That is our ship in the background. Port Stanley from our ship.

That is the dock we offloaded on.

Our camping guide, Jamie, hamming it up The Quark Expeditions and British Union Jack flags. when he saw us with our cameras. They pulled the flags in before we got out of the bay, which I thought was pretty rude.
