We were the first people they’ve seen since June!
With the current economic situation, I've heard that all Argentine scientific research stations have been closed.
The original expedition station, replaced now by the larger Ukrainian station. You can go inside.
The ceiling was barely 6 feet tall.
The machine shop where they could make tools and fix equipment.
This was a supply list tacked to the wall it was dated 1958 / 1959 and looked brand new.
They had a guest book you could sign. I wondered how many hours were spent by the scientists gazing out this window?
Great bar with homemade vodka and rec room!
This was at the modern Ukrainain replacement scientific station.
This picture shows a whale coming up through the ice to have a look around! This cartoon shows the expedition cook, asking his companions, "What wine goes with husky?"
Amazing what you can do with empty cigarette packs and lot of time on your hands!
This gentleman was playing his flute for us as we waited for our helicopter to take us back. I think they really enjoyed our company!
